🕊️ The Holy Spirit: Our Helper and Shield
Psalm 33:20 declares, “Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.”
The Hebrew word for "wait" here implies an excited anticipation—like waiting for a long-awaited gift. It’s not passive. It’s the kind of anticipation that grows as we pray in tongues. As you pray in the Spirit, you’re not just making noise; you’re stirring up divine expectation, releasing the helper within.
Jesus called the Holy Spirit our “Helper” (John 14:26), and Psalm 33 goes a step further—He’s also our shield. Just like insurance policies protect us from disaster, the Holy Spirit is our divine insurance against the fallout of sin, fear, sickness, or lack. He shields us from judgment and brings us into grace.
🌊 The Wind that Drove Away Judgment
Genesis 8:1 says, “Then God remembered Noah… and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.”
This is more than a historical note—it’s a prophetic parallel. When God remembered Noah, whose name means “rest,” He released the wind that pushed back the waters of judgment. That same wind blew again on the Day of Pentecost.
When Jesus—the new covenant Noah, the man of perfect rest—finished His redemptive work, Acts 2 says “a sound like a rushing mighty wind” filled the upper room. God remembered Jesus, and the wind of the Spirit came to rest on those who trusted in His finished work. Just like with Noah, that wind signaled the reversal of judgment and the beginning of new life.
🏔️ The Curse Reversed at Mount Ararat
Genesis 8:4 notes that “the ark rested… on the mountains of Ararat.” The name Ararat in Hebrew literally means “the curse reversed.”
This is no coincidence. Noah’s ark rested on a mountain after the judgment waters receded—just as the church in Acts rested in the upper room after Jesus bore our judgment on the cross. The upper room is our Ararat, and every time we pray in tongues, we are declaring: The curse is reversed!
🔁 Zakar: The Power of Divine Remembrance
The Hebrew word for “remembered” in Genesis 8 is zakar. It doesn’t mean God forgot Noah; it means He marked him. Like branding sheep for ownership, God marked Noah as one who had found grace.
Jesus was marked in the same way. He saw grace in the eyes of the Father, and the Father saw grace in Him. When Jesus said “It is finished,” He rested His case—and God responded by sending the Holy Ghost wind into the earth.
Zechariah’s name literally means “Yahweh remembers.” And he was the son of Barakiah, which means “Yahweh blesses.” That’s us—we are Zechariah, children of the God who blesses, and when we pray in tongues, we stir up that remembrance.
🔥 Praying in Tongues: Stirring the Wind, Releasing the Blessing
Every time you pray in tongues, you are doing something far more powerful than you may realize. You are:
Activating the Helper and Shield within
Stirring up divine anticipation and hope
Declaring the wind of judgment has passed
Releasing the same Spirit that reversed the curse
Reminding yourself—and heaven—of the blessing of Christ
You are joining in God's remembrance. You are saying, “I haven’t forgotten who I am. I haven’t forgotten what Jesus has done. And I remember that the curse is reversed!”
🙌 You Are Insured by Heaven
As we close today’s devotion, I want to remind you: you are insured by heaven. The Holy Spirit is your Helper. Jesus is your Ark of Safety. The curse is reversed. The wind is blowing. And your prayers in tongues are stirring that divine wind to blow over your life, your family, your future, and your world.
Let’s keep remembering. Let’s keep praying. Let’s keep resting in the grace-filled eyes of our Father.
